I will try to post more about other things like Christmas later but I thought this was funny so I figured I should put it in now.
I was just sitting here at the table across from Lilly who is still eating breakfast. I had to make a phone call to our insurance company to make sure they pay for Grant's recent birth and all involved. To avoid using minutes on my cell phone I decided to use out recently acquired land line which we never use, but got the number out of my cell phone. Lilly asked to "use" my cell phone so I handed it to her.
I noticed as I was making the call she had the cell phone up to her ear and was watching me very closely. Every thing I did whether it was nodding or talking with my hands she would do. Then when I ended the call by pushing the hang up button on the phone and laid it on the table, I looked across the table and she pulled the phone away from her head pushed a button and laid it on the table.
I think I kids learn tons more from what they see us do than what we tell them. So much for do what I say not what I do!
On a side note, everything is squared away with the insurance. Just have to pay a $100 deductible and the rest is covered! Can't complain about that.

Triple D
As anyone with kids knows, the birth of a child definitely brings change to ones life. In my expert opinion it is good change. That is not to say less sleep or constant poopy diapers is a good thing but taken in the big picture, it is all good.
It is different with a second child though. You have all the new things that come with a new baby. Even though you have experienced it before you would be surprised how much you forget from one child to the next. Or maybe it is just memory suppression as far as the surprising number of diaper changes with a new born etc. At any rate you now have a new variable...the jealous sibling.
Don't get me wrong, Lilly LOVES her new brother and wants to hold and kiss him as much as possible. She also loves sitting in his bouncer and car seat, and would play with his binky all day if we let her. But you can tell she is jealous that all the attention is not on her as it was not so long ago. She is definitely in her terrible twos and has been for a little while, but lately has ignored us more and become more defiant. Then this week it seems to have gotten worse, but maybe it is my imagination.
I am just afraid she will feel as though she is being replaced, or is less loved, or neglected or something, which of course she is not, but who knows what a 2 year old thinks. Of course we aren't going to neglect Grant at all either. I guess we just have to let her get use to sharing our attention right?
One thing we decided to do to help her know none of the above is true is to spend some one on one time with her. So yesterday we had our first Daddy Daughter Date! (Triple D) I had told her about it earlier in the week and she was excited. On Thursday I asked what we would be doing the next day. She excitedly replied "Goin' on a date!"
So we dropped Marni and Grant off at Tutu's (That is Grandma Robinson as our kids know her) house and we headed to a movie. We went to see "Bolt", which we both really enjoyed! Lilly also liked the fact that I spoiled her by getting her her own popcorn, 7-up (which she referred to as her water) and candy. She liked the fold up seats a lot and enjoyed sitting at the back of them and having it start to fold up on her, then having me push the front down. (this was her first trip to the theatre, so it was full of fun new experiences) She had so much fun she didn't want to leave. In fact we sat through all of the credits because she was sure it wasn't over. Then all the way back she was saying she didn't want to go back to Tutu's house, which she normally looks forward to. I told her we will go on another date sometime and she is excited about that. I did feel bad going into the movie though, because since I was carrying the soda and popcorn I couldn't carry her, which she was fine with. But we got to the movie just after it started because we got stuck in traffic behind some house they were moving down the highway or something. Anyway, it was dark when we got in there and with no free had I had to have her hold on to my pant leg while we walked up the stairs to the our seats, and she was a little scared being her first time in a theatre, but it was all good once we got our seats and she got her goodies.
When Marni has had a little more recover time, she will take her for some one on one time as well. I think it will be a good and very fun thing for us to do will all our kids as they grow up, so I really look forward to all the "dates"

So Cute!
Lilly has never really been a cuddly baby. She likes to give hugs and kisses, but I think she is just so full of energy that she can't old still long enough to just cuddle up on your lap. But lately she has liked sitting by me and on my lap more, and has liked to be held more. Maybe she is just trying to get all the attention she can before her brother is born, I don't know.
This morning she climbed into bed with me and just played until I got up. I then walked into the kitchen carrying Lilly and gave Marni a hug, so Lilly leaned forward and hugged her too. After we ate breakfast while we were still sitting at the table Marni walked over and gave me a hug. Lilly decided to climb out of her seat and gave me a hug at the same time. While the were both hugging me Lilly said: "Ahhh, I'm sooo cute!"
She is so cute!

New
I have been trying to settle on a good background for my blog. I like this one for now, considering the season. Now I will work on actually blogging again soon rather than just changing the background.

Funny Things
Lilly is becoming very talkative (unless she is around other people), and sometimes some of the things she says is very funny! So I have started writing some of them down so I wouldn't forget them. Here are some things I thought was very funny.
On Tuesday when we were getting ready to go to Logan to vote (yeah we are still registered in Utah, not Idaho...Don't judge me!) To do this we were going into town earlier than we usually do when we go to visit her Tutu and she asked about it, so I told her we were going in early to vote.
Lilly: I do!
Dad: You're gonna vote?
Lilly:Yeah.
Dad: Do you know what voting is?
Lilly: Yeah.
Dad: What is it?
Lilly: Voting!
Then as we were getting ready to go...
Dad: Do you remember where we are going?
Lilly: Yeah.
Dad: Where are we going?
Lilly: On a Date!
I will work on writing more stuff down so I don't forget because it is so cute!

I'm a slacker but Lilly is cute!
I know I have been slacking lately on my blogs. I will try to do better. I just wanted to put some cute photos and videos that I took with my phone. Hope you all enjoy them as much as we do!Sometimes she does not like to get up in the morning. Her dad has never been much of a morning person, so maybe she takes after me.
These are a couple after she has gotten up. The first one is obviously just after, and the other one she has been up for a little but hasn't done her hair yet. I think she is so cute all the time, like her mom!
The is such a good helper. Her she is at Tutu's (Grandma Robinson's house) doing a little raking.
She also loves to play the piano. Some day she will be as good as her mom.
Next we have a couple way cute videos. The first is of Lilly throwing a fizbee, which she not only likes to do, but as you can see is really good at it. Then next one I did to send to Nana to say good night, but we think it is so cute we watch it all the time!

Big Girl Bed....almost!
We have been wanting to get Lilly a big girl bed. We still need to and are planning to. But in the mean time we decided to temporarily transform her crib until we can get her a real bed. Here is a picture of it.

The Adventures of Lilly Kim!
I was at Hill AFB all day yesterday doing some online training and getting everything ready to go to Travis AFB (I will write about that in my other blog later). So Marni and Lilly were home alone all day. So to spend a little time with Lilly and give Marni a well deserved break I took Lilly to the park this morning. We have a bike cart I pull behind my bike that she loves to ride in, so we hooked it up and set off on our adventure! (the park is about 3 blocks from our house).
At the park there are a total of 4 swings and 3 slides and she made sure she experienced them all multiple times. Below are a few pictures I took with my phone while we were there.

Tick tock, Tick Tock!
Wow, it has been a long time since I posted anything on this. But i think this blog is good for here not my other one.
Yesterday we went to Primary Children's for Lilly's follow-up appointment and echo-cardiogram. Other than all the waiting it went pretty well. We did the echo first which was basically just an ultrasound of Lilly's heart, so we got to see it beating on the screen, not that any of what we were seeing meant anything to us, or at least me. Lilly was really good the whole time, and just laid there and watched Monsters Inc, while Marni and I watched her and the screen of the Echo. Of course the tech didn't say anything to us, so we had to wait for the doctor.
After about a half hour of waiting in the exam room an intern came in and listened and said he could still hear the murmur. Then he and the doctor came back in and the doctor listened and said he could hear it too. He also said that there was a small hole in one of the upper chambers of Lilly's heart. I guess that is what is causing the murmur.
Now that being said, he also said it is just the Innocent Murmur that they suspected it was. He said that all babies are born with the hole in the upper chamber, but it usually closes up in a matter of months. It can take years to close up though which is the case with Lilly. He said it doesn't really cause any problems and there is nothing to worry about. He said sometimes it will never completely close up but even then usually it doesn't matter. So he said he should need to see her again unless on one of her normal checkups with her doctor the doctor wants it checked again.
So Lilly is a very healthy happy girl that just happens to have an innocent murmur.
Lilly was so good they gave her free Ice Cream cone, a stuffed puppy dog, and 2 tokens for a machine with little toys. She is spoiled! I think Marni is going to be posting some cute pictures she took while at the hospital.

Hold You!
Lilly is the cutest little girl ever! I can often just sit and watch her and be completely entertained. And sometimes I can't help but laugh out loud at some of the amazing and cute things she does and says. I will just mention a little bit of her cuteness today.
She loves her "babies" and sometimes has to try to hold all of them she can. She does have her favorites though. There are the two small ones, Shrimp and Shrimp cocktail (yes they all have names) and then her two most favoritest are Annie and Andrew. She thought it was funny when she heard Marni call me by name and started repeating it once, so when we asked her what she wanted to name the baby that Nana gave her for Christmas she decided on Andrew.
She loves to walk. If we let her she will get her boots on, go outside and just walk. Usually all around the yard, but since we have been house sitting we are only 2 blocks from Marni's parents so we just walk over, and Lilly always wants to walk, not get carried. She hates it when we make her stop walking and we pick her up or make her come inside.
She also loves to "draw" which usually consists of her getting a crayon or a pen and scribbling all over a coloring book page or a piece of paper. They are really good though.
She also loves to play "up high" which is actually flying my radio controled helicopters. And she loves bubbles, probably because they distract the kids with bubbles in the nursery at church. But she loves all bubbles, the ones you blow, the ones in her hair when she takes a bath and the ones in the sink after the dishes were just washed. But if anything looks like a bubble she will point it out, like the little spill proof thing in her sippy cup.
Even though she loves to walk, you will often hear her saying "Hold You" which doesn't mean she wants to hold you, but rather that she wants you to hold her or pick her up. It is funny because when her cousin Gentry was about the same age he did the same thing. She often refers to herself as "you" because that is how she hears us refer to her when talking to her.

Poop!
So tonight was bath night. After Lilly's bath Marni took her to get her ready for bed. I went in a few minutes later and learned that Lilly had her first Poop on the potty. I guess she was tooting a little and Marni didn't want to waist a diaper, so she asked if Lilly would like to poop on the potty. She said yeah, so Marni held her up on it and she did! We are so proud of our little girl, but she is growing up so fast. She is so smart. Tomorrow after work we will take her to the store to get a present and a big girl potty.

Mouth
I figured I would post this after reading Alison's post about the binky's. Lilly is also a binky addict. She was getting pretty good with it, only really "needing" it for bed, or if she saw it she thought she needed it. But a couple weeks ago when she got sick she thought she had to have it all the time. I guess it was like comfort food, without the food. In fact she lost like 3 pounds when she was sick, (which for her is a lot) because she would not eat much at all. Now that she is not sick any more, she is eating A LOT! I am sure she has put on a couple pounds more than she lost. But even though she is eating now, she still thing she needs her binky all the time! It doesn't matter if she is going to bed or sees it or anything. If she doesn't have it, she will ask for it. It is funny though because she doesn't call it a binky, she calls it a "Mouth", I guess because that is where it goes. She knows what a mouth is, and we call her binky a binky and she knows what that is. I guess mouth is just easier to say than binky.
Needless to say, I don't know if we are going to get her to give it up anytime soon, even though we would like to. She even has a doll ("baby") that has a binky and when she goes to bed she wants to make sure her baby has it's "mouth" in it's mouth too.

Getting Started
I have decided to start this 2nd blog and have it dedicated to family stuff and happinings. I guess a family journal. I probably won't post many pictures as Marni does a really good job of that. Her's is the photo journal, where as this will be more the text version. Feel free to use both to not only read about but also see what is going on in the Marni & Andrew Potter Family. My goal is to try to to post an update at least once a week, maybe more often if things of note are going on. Feel free to call me on this if you notice me falling behind a little.
